Lantern Plants Nature Journal Page Handwritten Notes

Close-up photograph of a nature journal page held outdoors, filled with watercolor sketches and handwritten notes about a lantern-shaped plant. The page has a pale pink watercolor wash with touches of light blue and green. Near the upper-left area is a rounded, papery green husk drawn in side view with darker green vertical veins and labeled with arrows and notes, including “papery” and measurements. To the right is a circular view of the underside of the husk, divided into angular green segments that radiate toward the center. Below are additional studies showing the lantern form partially opened from the side and another opened specimen with several pale green papery lobes spread outward around a darker green center. Handwritten arrows identify features such as the side view, underside, delicate white interior, and the berry or seed inside. Long handwritten observations wrap around the illustrations, describing finding the plant in the backyard and comparing the shape to a small tomato or paper lantern. Large decorative lettering across the bottom reads “LANTERN” in red-orange outlined block letters with smaller dark script reading “plants.” A green lawn forms the blurred outdoor background.
