Squirrel Nature Journal Page

Close-up photograph of a handmade nature journal page titled “TREE Squirrel,” with the word “TREE” written in large dark reddish-brown block letters near the top and “Squirrel” written beneath in flowing script. A pale blue watercolor wash fills much of the page background. The central illustration is a detailed watercolor-and-ink study of a tree squirrel shown in profile, seated upright and holding food between its front paws. The squirrel has a rounded brown and gray body, a white belly, a dark glossy eye, pointed ears with warm orange inner coloring, long black whiskers, and a very large bushy tail sweeping upward and to the left. Fine pen strokes create the fur texture throughout the body and tail, with layered gray, black, tan, cream, and ochre washes. Handwritten notes surround the animal on both sides and below, including a section labeled “Cool Facts about Squirrels,” observations about size and lifespan, species diversity, habitat, behavior, and a favorite time of year to watch squirrels. Near the lower right is a small circular inset drawing of a squirrel paw or foot with arrows and notes about toes and claws. A fingertip holding the page is visible along the lower edge, and a narrow glimpse of another journal page appears on the right.
